Jazz Singer

London

‘19 Certificate of Excellence

David has been singing Jazz professionally for over 20 years. Since training at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, he continues to sing with some of the stars of the Jazz world today at some of the most exclusive venues, Jazz clubs and festivals worldwide such as: Ronnie Scotts Jazz club, The National Concert Hall Dublin, The Grand Hyatt Doha, Qatar, The Royal Opera House London, The Kuala Lumpur Jazz Festival, Bristol Old Vic Theatre, 59E 59th St Theatre New York, The Waldorf Hotel, Grosvenor House, The Dorchester, The Royal Garden Hotel, The Grand Hotel Brighton, The Soho Theatre, The 606, Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho. “With Frank Sinatra’s phrasing and a delivery all his own” - All About Jazz Music is an integral part of any event. David evokes the sophistication and ambience of the classic Jazz era, from the Rat Pack and singers such a Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, to the hip Cool School of west coast legends such as Chet Baker and Tony Bennett His debut jazz album, ”Just In Time” was “CD of the week” in The Guardian and his follow up album, with the Jim Mullen organ trio, was described by The Times jazz critic as “The spirit of Sinatra”. David’s albums have been favourably reviewed in The Times, The Guardian, Jazzwise, Jazz Journal, Jazz UK, Crescendo & Jazz Magazine, Musician Magazine, Jazz Rag, The Belfast Telegraph in the UK and in All About Jazz (USA & Worldwide). "David doesn't seem to be following in anyone's footsteps. It's rare to find originality of that kind in a singer at the beginning of their career and it points to an interesting future." - Dave Gelley - The Guardian David also sings alongside big bands such as the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (UK), the Skelton Skinner Allstar Big Band (UK), the RTE concert orchestra (Ireland) and Grammy award nominee John Wilson and his Orchestra (UK), famous for its contribution to Kevin Spacey’s film “Beyond The Sea” about the life of singer Bobby Darin. David was interviewed on the Russell Davies Show on BBC Radio 2, as well as receiving airplay on the Jonathan Ross show and on various BBC Radio stations from the likes of Humphrey Lyttleton, Jacqui Dankworth, Clare Martin, David Jacobs, Desmond Carrington, Helen Mayhew, Walter Love, and Campbell Burnap. "The listener realises this is a singer who has learned the art of the popular song and is creating his own palette with colourful shades of the past." - The Belfast Telegraph

What do you love most about your job?

I love creating an atmosphere of fun and excitement where people feel relaxed, entertained and get up and dance. Being an integral part of a personal and special occaision allows me to sculpt the music to fit the mood of the room and be involved in what the unique requirements are from each special event be it a wedding reception to a 60th birthday party, I like to get everyone involved from the grandchildren to the great-grandparents!

What inspired you to start your own business?

I've been Jazz professionally since 1992 and the most has most inspired me over the years is that all audiences are different and there is always something new to learn about singing and performing. I also get to travel the world and perform in amazing venues for thousands of people. I'm constantly meeting new audiences making connections with new musicians and industry professionals in the hospitality and entertainment business. I was inspired to be my own boss and create the kind of music that I really enjoyed and could bring my own personality to the music and feel like could inspire others too in the process.

Why should our clients choose you?

Many function singers like to have a niche, like a tribute act. They have become very popular these days and there is no doubt that the the top class tributes are pretty amazing. However, its easy nowadays to pass as a Sinatra singer or Ratpack tribute act with a a little publicity material on a website. Where I differ from those who perhaps do this as a sideline , is that I do this for a living.

I've been a professional Jazz singer for over 20 years, I have trained at The world class Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. I have two albums which were critically acclaimed in The Guardian, The Observer and The Times and the major Jazz publications in the UK. I perform Regularly at the world renowned Ronnie Scott's Jazz club in London and I travel the world singing at festivals and events in Europe, the United States, the Middle East and Aisia.

As part of my continuing commitment to my professional development I take regular singing lessons with Singing professors from the Royal Academy of Music in London, to ensure my voice is always developing.

I have been working with the best Jazz musicians in the UK, who are regular players at Ronnie Scott's, since graduating from Guildhall. This ensures you get the best quality and most in demand musicians in London today.

I'm not a tribute act.

I'm the real deal.

I bring all the sophistication and fun of the Classic Jazz era of Sinatra and make it my own, singing old favourites in a fresh and exciting way.

Amazing duo played at my mum’s 99th birthday party on Saturday and all our guests were more than impressed. So happy to have hired Clement for this special occasion and looking forward to a next time already! All the best Clement, you were brilliant!

Where to start? Excellent excellent excellent! Organised everything! Polite and accommodating. Supported with hiring kit and lighting. Really prepared for the event, liaised with venue thoroughly. Voice is excellent, band excellent, audience connection excellent. Took my song list and turned into modern and old jazz. Mix of old and new genre approaches. Helped me find a DJ too. All on budget! I cannot recommend Charles highly enough.

I'm a Wedding Planner and planned a really beautiful intimate Wedding in January where I was lucky enough to meet Clement and the other members of the team who played incredibly well (keyboard and Sax). The atmosphere was amazing and they gave to the wedding the perfect vibe. Very professional and efficient. I would definitely contact him again in the future and I definitely recommend Clement and his services!!
