Best Foot Froward Skate Academy provides a safe, engaging and open environment for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to learn how to Skateboard. Our team of instructors are available 7 days a week across multiple locations in London, each of our instructors are vetted, trained, experienced and certified in First Aid, Safeguarding and Enhanced DBS checked. As part of Best Foot Forward Skate Academy each instructor shares our ethos a of learner first focused experience with both male and female instructors on the books. We offer 1-1 lessons, groups sessions and events such as birthdays, school activities (curriculum and after school clubs) , work away days and other groups such as our multiple sessions spent teaching Girl scout groups in London. With 8 years working and Managing multiple GP practice in the NHS prior to starting this project we combine the safe, person driven service with the fun and freedom of Skateboarding and we hope to have you on board with us soon.
As founder of Best Foot Forward Skate Academy skateboarding has been my life long passion and having the opportunity to share my experience, knowledge and fun with people from all walks of life has been fantastic. I have always enjoyed teaching even before doing it formally and enjoy every moment i get on the board
Following 8 years working and managing GP practices in the NHS including the managing 3 surgeries at once during the peak of the Covid pandemic i decided it was time for a change once the country started to stabilise once again. My decision to leave a stable and well respected job to start a skateboarding school was seen as a gamble but in my mind it was the only project that i wanted to pursue, i had learnt many valuable skills in managing employees, patients and businesses and wanted to apply it to my passion.
Best Foot Forward is dedicated to putting the learner first, all instructors have been recruited with not only their skating ability in mind but their understanding and empathy towards people trying to learn the thing we love. All instructors have been recruited with years of social connection to our founder and Lead instructor and you will never be allocated random skaters in a temp agency model. We treat all learners with respect and as individual learners to best help them achieve their skateboarding goals, we work with local charities to help remove barriers and reinvest to our local community.
Remote work is available, online coaching did become more prevalent in skateboarding during lockdown, these are welcomed however these are very rare as face to face has more benefits
We established Best Foot Forward after the peak of the Covid-19 outbreak, however having manged in the NHS for the previous years including the height of the pandemic we took the safety of our learners extremely seriously. Weekly testing, outdoor only lessons, routine equipment cleaning and allowing for cancellations for unwell learners were offered alongside the possibility of online lessons via video platforms
